My Vegan, Cruelty-Free & Natural Skincare Routine (Pai Skincare & Vanity Planet Ultimate Skin Spa System Review)

Today I want to share my skincare routine with you all - I don't talk about my skin that often on my blog or any of my social media accounts but I used to struggle pretty badly with eczema when I was a toddler and then again from the age of 13 - 20. It's only in the last year or so that my skin is actually behaving again and now, at age 21, I'm finally happy with it! Suffering from eczema was incredibly debilitating and I couldn't stand people seeing me when I was experiencing a flare up. Luckily it's all gone now and, even though that may be due to me getting older and my skin sorting itself out on its own, I do contribute a lot of my success to my diet (lots of plants and no dairy!), the amount of water I drink (at least 2 litres a day) and my skincare routine. I use products free from harsh ingredients, and facial oils which are amazing for hydrating your skin and giving it a natural glow.

My all-time favourite skincare company is definitely Pai and I've been using their products for a few months now. I was previously using products from Neal's Yard Remedies which I loved but I recently discovered they use denatured alcohol in a lot of their products (alcohol denat. can be very drying for the skin) so I decided to switch to Pai. Pai is a certified vegan and cruelty-free company and all their products are created especially for sensitive skin - they're also free from ingredients such as ethyl alcohol, artificial fragrances, formaldehyde, parabens, phenoxyethanol and pthalates, all of which are damaging in one way or another. I've never experienced any itchiness or tightness when I've used Pai's products and my skin is incredibly soft and calm almost all the time.

I also use the Ultimate Skin Spa System from Vanity Planet alongside my skincare products. It gives a much deeper clean than when I apply my cleanser with just my hands and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin since I started using it - I very rarely get spots or dry patches anymore and my skin is super soft! I really recommend it and right now you can get 70% off with the code 'vegan70', making it just $38 instead of $125. It's so worth it!

So, onto the products I use; I keep my skincare routine super simple and it's pretty much the same morning and night - cleanse, tone and moisturise. In the morning I start by cleansing my face with Pai's Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser (I have the 200ml tube but you can get a 100ml version as well!). A lot of skincare experts say you don't need to cleanse in the morning but I like to do it anyway as I find it refreshes my skin and gives me a better base for my make up. I dab the cleanser all over my face then massage it in with the Skin Spa System (I use the cleansing brush) for about 30 seconds. I then remove it with warm water and a cotton face cloth or the terry cloth side of one of Pai's Duel-Effect Sensitive Skin Cloths; I'm not a fan of their muslin face cloths as I find them too harsh for my skin (even though they're super gentle - I just have very sensitive skin!) but their sensitive skin cloths are amazing. This cleanser is incredibly soothing and hydrating, and always makes my skin glow after I've used it - probably due to all the fabulous plant oils it contains!

I follow the cleanser with Pai's Lotus & Orange Blossom Bioaffinity Tonic which leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I tend to use three sprays - one on my forehead and nose area, and one on each cheek. Toning is an important part of any skincare routine because it removes any dirt left behind from cleansing and this is by far the best toner I've used.

The final part of my morning skincare routine is moisturising. I use the Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream from Pai which is incredible; I'm a huge fan of everything to do with rosehip oil and I firmly believe it's the answer to most skincare issues so having it incorporated into a moisturiser is pure heaven for me. This day cream isn't too heavy or greasy and it rubs in easily (plus it smells amazing!). You don't have to use a lot of it, especially if you use toner beforehand, and I find that 1 - 2 pumps is enough for me.

My evening routine involves the same products plus a facial oil - I don't feel the need to use any serums or eye creams as I like to keep everything as simple as possible. First I remove my eye make up using a cotton pad and either water or coconut oil, depending how much make up I'm wearing. I then use the same cleanser, toner and moisturiser as I do in the morning (I use a little bit more cleanser in order to remove all my make up) and then follow it with Neal's Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil and sometimes A'kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil. These two products can actually be used interchangably but I like to use the NYR Rose Facial Oil daily (I put a couple of drops onto my fingers and gently massage it all over my face after moisturising) and the Rosehip Oil when any little spots pop up. It's a lifesaver just before and during my period, not going to lie!

Twice a week I exfoliate and use a face mask, which I adore doing - it's a pamper session for my face! I begin by using the Pai Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator which is unbelievably good. Pretty much every other exfoliator I've used has been scratchy, uncomfortable and irritating for my skin but this one is gentle and smooth while still getting rid of dead skin and the like. It's a gel rather than a cream and you just rub it all over your face using upward motions, then wet your fingers with warm water and massage your skin again which transforms the gel into more of a milk. Then just rinse it off with warm water and a soft face cloth and you're done! I usually use the exfoliating brush from my Skin Spa System instead of my fingers and I've found it makes a big difference in how my skin feels afterwards. I follow the exfoliator with the Rosehip Bioregenerate Rapid Radiance Face Mask which is unlike any face mask I've ever used as it has quite a thin consistency (similar to a moisturiser) rather than a thick, clay-like texture. Most face masks are really difficult to remove and I always end up scrubbing my skin way to hard which brings it out in a rash, but this one wipes off easily with warm water. It still has all the benefits of a regular face mask though and it really does make my skin glow! Plus I've already mentioned how much I adore rosehip oil so this face mask is a godsend.

So that's my skincare routine! It's super simple with no nasties or harsh products, and it works wonders for my skin. The only downside about Pai is the cost of the products but the difficulties I've had with my skin in the past mean that I don't mind spending a little bit more if it's going to make a difference (which Pai definitely does!). If you're worried about spending a lot of money on something that may not work then I really recommend trying one of Pai's Travel Kits which is what I did at first - the products lasted two weeks for me which was more than enough time to realise how incredible they are!

Disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post for Pai - I bought all these products myself and I absolutely adore them so I thought I'd share them with you all! Vanity Planet sent me the Skin Spa System to review but all opinions are my own and I'd never promote anything I don't love or believe in.
