Eating Out as a Vegan: NAMA Artisan Raw Foods, London

Finding places to eat out as a vegan is tough - the most you'll be able to find in the majority of cafes is a poor excuse for a salad or a jacket potato with baked beans. As someone who dislikes jacket potatoes, would rather not eat sugar-laden baked beans and has very high expectations when it comes to salads, eating out is usually not a very exciting prospect for me. However, I have found a few little gems dotted around the UK (well, in the few places that I've actually been recently!) which not only serve delicious vegan food but are also extremely pleasant places to dine in. Every week I'll be sharing one of these fabulous eateries with you all so if you're planning on visiting the area they're in then you'll know there's always somewhere for you to go! The first one I'd like to tell you about is NAMA Artisan Raw Foods in London - this is a raw vegan restaurant which is situated in Notting Hill and it is truly one of the loveliest places I've ever been!

Our dessert at NAMA Foods - the selection of raw sweet treats

NAMA has got a gorgeous 'clean' feel to it, with pale wooden tables which are ready and waiting with a large jug of water when you arrive. I visited NAMA with three of my friends (Pixie, Maxine and Sasha) whilst I was in London a couple of weeks ago and we were all absolutely stunned by the wide variety of food on the menu - everything sounded so delicious and we had no idea what to pick! The waitress that served us was super helpful and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. I decided to have the raw 'Italian pizza' (with a courgette and walnut base, a nut and seed cheese and various vegetables), Sasha had the raw sushi, Pixie had the raw falafel wrap and Maxine had the raw lasagne. We all tried each others' dishes and everything was incredibly delicious! We had drinks with our meals too, all of which were equally as good as the food - I had the 'Luscious Lucuma' smoothie and the other girls had the 'Chocolate Heaven' smoothie, 'Supergreen' smoothie and 'Internal Harmony' juice.

After we'd finished eating, our waitress asked if we wanted any desserts - of course we said yes! We opted for the selection of raw sweet treats to share between the four of us and we adored every bite. The platter consisted of bits of raw fudge, raw chocolate brownie and raw white chocolate, plus two mini bliss balls and two tiny slices of raw chocolate tart. Heaven. Our meals were super satisfying but without being too heavy on our stomachs and we practically skipped out of the building because we had so much energy! Needless to say, our visit to NAMA was a success. The food and drinks are fairly expensive but you're paying for excellent quality ingredients and nutrition, so worth it as a treat every once in a while.

You can view their full menu and contact details here and visit their restaurant at 110 Talbot Road, Notting Hill, London.
